THE LYNWOOD PHILOSOPHY aims to provide a safe an enjoyable place to play soccer. Our goal is maximum participation and to create a sense of belonging in our community. We also have a strong belief in player development and endeavour to create an environment in which any future superstars can thrive in. From the under 6’s to Under 15’s we believe the best way for players to progress is to develop a love for the game. Playing with friends in a structured environment with good coaches is the best way to do this. By treating all age groups equally we hope that you will feel a part of the club and stay with us for many years.

For most players this is their first step on what I hope will be a long and wonderful path through the world game. At this stage it is a little bit about skill development and a whole lot about fun. If they love the game now, then they will always love it.

U8/U9 Miniroos

Moving from the clusters to under 8/9’s is a pretty big step for our budding soccer superstars, no longer do we have small pitches and small goals but instead much larger goals with goalkeepers, 7 players on the park, throw in’s, corners and so on. So we can expect peaks and troughs in individual development as the players try to get a grasp on these new elements of the game as well as continue to develop their own skills they learnt in the 6’s and 7’s. So long as they still enjoy it and try their best they should have a great season.

U10/U11 Miniroo's

The under 10 and 11 age groups is really a continuation of the under 8 and 9’s. Other than two extra players on the field there are no major changes. However what you will notice is a more refined touch, a cleaner pass and better decision making. This is a vital part of their development as they further improve those skills that become so vital when they move to the bigger pitch in U/12.

U12-U15 Juniors

We are now at an age when we are playing proper soccer. Proper size pitches, proper referees (hopefully), offside and so on. For the under 12’s this is a massive learning curve, whilst for the 13/14’s it becomes an understanding of where they fit into the game and where they want to take it. It is also a period when some players, for one reason or another, stop playing. So as it was in the u6-u11 age groups, that above all else the key component is that they love playing the game.
